GYO SUMMER SLAMMER – MAHI MAHI FISHING HOODIE

Two mahi. Two fishermen. Two hand-carved originals.

The GYO Summer Slammer Hoodie from Folk Fish Studio brings together offshore fishing culture and traditional block-print artwork in a design with a story behind every fish.

The two mahi featured in this artwork aren’t duplicates, stock illustrations, or generic fish graphics.

They started as two completely separate custom mahi carvings created by artist Jason Smith of Morrow, Ohio, for two different fishermen.

TWO CUSTOM MAHI – TWO ORIGINAL PIECES OF ART

Each mahi was individually carved into wood by hand as its own custom piece.

After the carvings were completed, Jason inked and block printed each fish, creating two original prints with their own shapes, textures, details, and personalities.

Those two block-printed mahi were eventually brought together to create the artwork featured on the GYO Summer Slammer.

So when you look at the two fish on the back of this hoodie, you’re actually looking at artwork originating from two different hand-carved fish made for two different fishermen.

That’s something you won’t find on your average fishing hoodie.

Mahi fishing can go from nothing happening to absolute chaos in seconds.

One fish shows up.

Then another.

Colors light up behind the boat. Somebody grabs another rod. Somebody else is looking for a bait. The guy who’s supposed to have the net has somehow disappeared.

That’s when summer gets good.

The GYO Summer Slammer celebrates those days when the mahi are around and everybody aboard suddenly has a job.
